A Marathi litterateur and noted lyricist of Marathi cinema "Jagdish Khebudkar" (जगदीश खेबुडकर).
Having written seven songs for V. Shantaram's Marathi film Pinjra, he was felicitated the V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, among others.
Some of Khebudkar's most memorable Marathi songs were written for the films Kunku Lavte Mahercha, Bijli, Don Baika Phajeeti Aika, Samna and Manaacha Mujra.
Following the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948, Khebudkar at the age of 16, wrote his first poem which was aired by the All India Radio. He is survived by two sons - Abhang & Muktchand and two daughters - Angai & Kavita . He died in a private hospital in Kolhapur. The 77-year-old died of renal failure. He was undergoing dialysis for the renal ailment.
The legendary lyricist, also a teacher by profession, breathed his last in Adhar Nursing Home.
Associated with the Marathi Film industry for 50 years, during which Khebudkar established a repertoire of 2,500 legendary songs. He also wrote 3,500 poems, 25 stories and five plays among others.
